Islam is based on ‘Five Pillars’.
These five pillars are the basic duties of every Muslim.
These five pillars of Islam are:
1.
The Declaration of Faith or Ash-Shahaadah: by saying ‘Laa ilaaha ill-Allaah, Muhammadur-Rasoolullaah.
Meaning (There is no god worthy of worship but Allah and Muhammad is His
Messenger).
2.
The Compulsory prayer or Salah: Muslims all around the world pray five times everyday.
3.
The payment of purification of dues or Zakat: All rich Muslims must give zakat to the poor and needy
every year.
4.
Fasting in the month of Ramadan or Sawm: All muslims must fast in the month of Ramadan.
5.
Pilgrimage to the Ka’bah or Hajj: All capable muslims must make Hajj at least once in his or her
lifetime.
